Thank you all.
Hello everyone!
Since I’m planning to blog here a lot, I figured I should register a domain name already. Problem is, I don’t think that’s going to be the name of the blog.. it’s too long and it’s not very easy to remember when you have millions of other blogs that you’re reading.I thought maybe I should register my name but that’s already taken, unfortunately, (I checked .ws, .us, and all the other famous ones.)
So, I want you to suggest me a title for the blog (short and funky), and perhaps an available not overpriced domain name.
Thanks! It’ll be very much appreciated, to keep this going.
This might be the most time-saver add-on on Firefox. At first I used it to open multiple tabs for links I found on a page (for example, a search result page with too many links). Now I use it even if it was just one link! Decided it’s much easier than “Right click–open in new tab”.
How to use it? Simple. You just Right Click and drag the selection box on the links! I discovered that you can do a lot more than just open links in a new tab. But I just use it for that. “Links can also be opened in new windows, new tabs on a new window, copied to clipboard, bookmarked or downloaded.” ~ from the page.
The only reason I use this add-on is because I use Live Bookmarks in Girefox 3 and I don’t like my feeds to be on the bookmarks toolbar. Instead, I want them on a sidebar! This is really simple and it looks neat. Whenever you have new feeds a little star shows up on the RSS icon. This is really helpful since Firefox had this smart location bar with the RSS icon.
(Note: to make the live bookmarks or feeds not appear on your bookmarks toolbar, just move the Live Bookmarks folder in the main bookmarks menu, and voila! You got it in the sidebar.)
Now this add-on is pure genius! It’s a simple CSS property viewer. You can turn it on and off with the icon on your toolbar. (if it doesn’t show after the installment, you’d have to right click and then “customize”, and then drag and drop the CSSViewer icon). It’s great for web developers and even myself find it very useful!
Ever been on a certain website where you just loved the font but couldn’t decide what it was? Then you should install Fond Finder right now! I’ve been in trouble with this one for so long. Because I am not a pro when it comes to fonts and I just don’t recognize them right away. This isn’t much of a thing but can be very useful if you are a designer or a copycat. ![]()
I use if for certain reasons, it is very much helpful if you had friends all over the world and you wouldn’t bother to use a calculator to add and subtract each time you wanted to tell what time it is on their side of the world.
It adds a “Restart Firefox” button in the file menu.
This is very helpful for me because sometimes I just open up a LOT of links that I find interesting but at the same time will just use once. Ya know, read it and then forget about it. I know I know.. “Just bookmark it for later!” But wouldn’t you want a button in the Firefox smart location bar you can just click and save that page for you to read later without making a fuss in your bookmarks menu? You got! When you mark it and visit it later it offers a number of choices: 1- just mark it as read. 2. Mark it as read and: add to delicious/digg it/reddit/SU/magnolia/Firefox bookmarks.
Since my interweb is Oh-so-great, I clearly need this add-on very much. Sometimes the internet goes off for a few seconds, so I don’t have to manually reload the page to check if it’s back again. This add-on will keep reloading the page until it gets it. You can customize the number of tries, and the time between each try and the other. Very useful!
There are other additional well-known add-ons. Such as the SU toolbar, Twitterfox, and Delicious.
Ever been in one of those situations when you just wanted someone to call you with an emergency so you can leave? Then Getmooh is definitely for you!
You type in the phone number with the country code, choose a specific time to call, and what recording to play when you get called. Best thing is, it’s FREE! Very easy to use! You have to register first of course. You type in your information and then you get the password via SMS. And I believe that you get to also prank call! Or maybe set a call for your friend’s birthday. Only there are limitations:
1- You only get two calls a day.
2- Getmooh can only make a certain number of calls a day for all users. They’re looking forward to increase that number.
Try it!
Dwigger (Twitter + Digg) is a new website that has just launched. The main idea behind this website is whenever you see a tweet that you just wanna share with the world, you can add it to dwigger, or add your own tweets (assuming you’re that self-absorbed) after that, it’s all almost same as digg! People vote and comment. It’s not officially associated with Twitter, (I mean you don’t see a dwigger button there yet, right?) and I still believe it needs to become used by more people in order to become better and more popular. Wouldn’t hurt to try, right?
Check it out yourselves, it’s new.. so I have nothing more than you’d have to say.
I just discovered this website called TryPhone, where you can actually try out some phones before buying them and that happens through web! Not very satisfying in my opinion, but it’s better than nothing. At least, you’ll know how the menus will look like. Another disadvantage is that not all phones are available. I just tried out the SE P1i, and the iPhone. Cool, eh? And yeah, no registeration whatsoever required!
Many people went on and on about the Google Chrome before it was even released. And we know why! Google never releases anything crappy. They’ve always had it all, Gmail, Google Search, Google reader… etc.
When it was first available for download I wasn’t excited, not that much. (Same thing happened to me when they released Firefox 3 officially. I sticked with Firefox 2 for a couple of months just because one single add-on wasn’t available on the new version.) I’ve waited a couple of days to just download the google chrome install file, and a few more days to actually install it.
1. A 5-minute video on YouTube took only 11 seconds to load!
I first used it for YouTube and such, my internet connection wasn’t slow at all, but with Google Chrome web browsing became lightning! It was the FASTEST web browser I ever ever tried. I can’t even stop to pause and think while the page is loading! Not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. But I certainly felt more easy.
2. It’s way less needy than Firefox when it comes to memory usage.
Besides that, I opened up my task manager, and it wasn’t using huge memory! Sorry, Firefox, but Google Chrome definitely is a winner in this one. Firefox web browser could use up to 90,000K, while Google Chrome never exceeded 25,000K with all sorts of video and flash sites open.
3. Simple!
When was the last time you’ve seen something so simple? I can proudly say that Google Chrome would never cause me a headache. The interface looks very neat, I like it much. But.. could they have overdone it? Is it way too simple? Maybe. I still like how it looks, don’t get me wrong! I think that the positioning of the tabs is the greatest thing ever (I wonder how they didn’t think of that before), it looks much easier on the eyes. But sometimes we need more than just a browser. Live bookmarks, anyone? I don’t want to have to go to Google Reader everytime I want to check something. Hopefully, they’ll have time for add-ons.
1. Back?
Everytime I wanna type something in the site, it takes me back to the previous page! For some reason, it is very sensitive. I don’t know if anyone noticed this or not but it happens with me, a lot.
2. It crashes.
It’s not very stable yet. It has certain problems.
3. RSS.
I need a feed sidebar, people! Live bookmarks or something! Be more like firefox on that one.
4. I cannot let go of Firefox for some reason.
Everytime I want to use another browser and I find it faster with less memory usage, I think twice. I don’t know why I feel so much more comfortable with Firefox. I tried Opera, Safari, Flock, and Google Chrome.. I still can’t make myself let go of Firefox. Oh well.
So the answer is no. I will not set Google Chrome as my default web browser just yet. Maybe someday I’ll learn to get over Firefox! But not when it’s dying on me, nu-uh!
First post is always the hardest, eh? I believe so. This blog won’t be about anything specific. I’ll talk and list and say my opinion about everything that turns my head. Whether it’s tech, fitness, food and drink, certain hobbies, gadgets, softwares and hardwares. You get the picture: it’s all pretty random. I’m going to start out soon with a random start too.
